Don’t Believe Me Just Watch!
I

It’s a rare occasion when preparation and opportunity strike. I called a friend on a whim and she was ready to go, and might I say, I Love It When Magic Happens for the win.

The weather was right and the scenery was perfect, there was simply no way that this shoot could go wrong and with that…

The June Female Feature, Ms. Nazia Rhaman!

Nazia is a Bangladeshi-American from the sunshine state (Florida). She currently holds a Bachelors in Health Sciences with a concentration in Biological Sciences from the University of South Florida and is now pursuing a Masters in Biomedical Sciences at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine- Georgia campus. Her passion for women’s health is a driving force for her dream of becoming an Obstetrician/Gynecologist. To even broaden her impact, after becoming a physician, she intends to educate and provide underserved women in Bangladesh with healthcare and information to prevent and treat commonly preventable and treatable diseases. I’ve gotta say, she is a Rockstar in the making. Finally, as a testament to her multifaceted personality, she hikes! One of her favorite spots is Tallulah Falls, State Park. Long story short this shoot was made for her.

The goal for both of these looks was to be functionally chic. Atlanta has been hitting us with treacherously high temperatures lately, which calls for the strategic selection of outfits. I was inspired by Trey Young and Lebron James while she was more inspired by the need to be cool so all was well with the world.

Her look:

The black top mimics a camisole but is actually a bodysuit, which is a tool that every woman should have in their wardrobe in 2018(if you don’t own one please access the link below). She strategically paired it with the high-waisted ultra-wide leg pant for breathability, but what resulted was a new-age flare and a really dope look. In general, these types of pants seem to be a bit on the lengthy side so a heel of some sort is necessary. She chose a simple single band nude heel which is a utility play because its dope and goes with almost anything. I love this look because I’m a fan of setting the streets ablaze with outfits that seem so effortless. Oh, and the details… GOLD MOVADO with the GOLD TOE RING and the GOLD NECKLACE…JAMES, Gold all in my chain, gold all in my rang, gold all in my watch, don’t believe me just (I feel like you know the rest lol). This can easily be worn in multiple settings and if you throw a blazer in the mix it could be worn to work as well!

My Look:

As I mentioned, I was inspired by King James, I personally do not want to have the conversation around his greatness, but let’s talk style. I loved that he took the leap and wore this in the finals, I had some reservations with the shoe choice (Docs are Dope but not with a short suit) so I had to do this.

I opted for a black suit as opposed to a grey because it is my least frequently worn suit. I was taught that the black suit is solely for funerals and formal events so I wanted to put a different spin on it. As a note, I was asked several times if I was getting married in this outfit and I’m still baffled (who gets married in shorts…Questions that need answers lol). Overall this is a function thing for me as well. Its super hot out and what better way to beat the heat than with a dope pair of shorts.

Interestingly enough, this was actually a complete, normal, pants suit at one point, but I took the pants to my tailor, indicated what I thought was the appropriate length and had her cut the pants to my preference with a cuff. She is awesome!!!

The venue:

We chose the Atlanta History Center Swann House because the aesthetic was super dope and there is so much greenery available it just had to be done. There is a museum, a restaurant, several gardens, a goat farm, playground, and an art gallery all on the premises. Needless to say, its an eclectic venue. What captivated me most was the model T that is open and available for you to sit in. I personally couldn’t fit, but if you have a chance, go check it out, apparently the world was much smaller in the days of Henry Ford.
