When the Weather has Mixed Emotions
<

February is generally regarded as the month of hearts, but we are past that lol. Also, we are at that point where the weather has mixed emotions.

We are in this awkward point in the season where you wake up to 30 degree temps and end the day at 60, you literally have to have a transformer of an outfit. So the question is, how do you do this without having a locker at work, carrying around a Wkender bag, or becoming Aquafina from Crazy Rich Asians. Here’s one way to casually dress for success and beat the weather. (shameless plug, you can get it all at K&G)

The pieces are simple:

Ralph Lauren ¾ length overcoat

White Sean John Sweater

Red fade to black plaid Sean John button down

Olive Green Sean John utility pant

Black cap toe Moretti boots

(As a note, everything has been tailored to fit!)

Step one, perfect way to start the day! Its freezing, ears are cold, but I figured the layers will add character to my outfit later in the day… so i took the plain shirt to create a look similar to a russian ushanka, if the flaps were tied up. Fashion is about taking risks, this is a small one, but i think it works.

Step two, the sun finally comes out and the temperature rises. There‘s no longer a need to cover my ears but it’s still a little nippy lol. Coat on is the way to go. It’s simple, chic, and still has character. As a note, in recent years there has been this resurgence of long, traditionally more formal coats. Whats cool about this is they are being incorporated into wardrobes in unique ways. Adidas joggers, tshirt, tennis shoes, and a ¾ length anyone? This look is one that merges the formal and the causal seamlessly.

Step three, it’s now afternoon. At this point it’s warm, and now im frustrated because I have had this coat on all day and it’s 60 degrees. The most reasonable piece to leave at my desk or in my car is my coat. So the coat comes off and the look could go a couple of ways. I’m partial to the classic shirt around the waist, fashion is cyclical (shrug).

Overall, this a versatile mixed weather look that will help you navigate the day in its entirety. Even in keeping it casual you’ve got to keep it cool!
