So We Running It Back!

*Cues Pastor Ma$e’s “Welcome Back”!!!*

Did you really think I was gonna let the year get completely underway without speaking???

This is the inaugural post. The post to set the tone for the year. It’s only right that I start by giving you some quick stats. For those of you who follow us closely on IG, this is merely a reminder to celebrate our wins:

2018 was a year of resounding success…

• 51 blog posts to the website

• 10 #TheWkendHer features

• 1000+ website views per month

• A 9.7% IG engagement rate, which is more than 3x the average rate!

This is all because of you…OUR READERS!

I appreciate your support in this effort to build a brand that transcends borders. I have to let you know that some things have changed.

When Don (my awesome photographer) and I started, we simply said, “It’s a blog. We will try and see what happens.” We have come to a consensus… WE ARE DOING THIS.

We are invested in providing the best value to you, and for us to do so, we had to take a step back to learn more about you – our audience. What we found has helped us reshape our vision.

The Wkender has become a celebration of millennials. We will highlight individuals all of backgrounds and lifestyles who are thriving in various professions, while simultaneously maximizing their wkends to express and grow themselves at the intersection of fashion and travel. Our goal is to show how to seamlessly transition from the boardroom, to the happy hour, to the nightclub comfortably and fashionably. Long story short: 2019 will be LIT!

We will be giving you “New Year” vibes all month long. I decided to start the year with a very simple quote by Oscar Wilde, “You can never be overdressed or overeducated”. The Wkender: “Bond Edition” (lol) embodies every bit of that quote (you’ll get the education piece later this year).

The black and white contrast creates a classic, yet dynamic sense of elegance. You have to love the winter white (aka cream) blazer on the white shirt. Some may argue another color shirt would have been appropriate, black or egg shell perhaps. But you should know by now to expect the unexpected for me. The black pants are a simple, timeless way to break up a standard cream suit. I paired it with the dramatic (read: large) bowtie and velvet loafers for the win!

And like that, we are back to business!

To A Life Worth Living!
