The Unruely Effect
O

One of the many benefits of having a platform is being able to expose your audience to the information, resources, or networks at your disposal. That was the premise behind the brain trust. That is a major tenant of The Wkender brand. August’s Brain Trust post was curated to remind you to never let “them” put you in a box, because there was never a box in the first place. With that, I present, Roodgery “Rue” Rosemberg: jack of all trades, man of many hats, the ultimate curator of vibes.

Rue is a Haitian born millennial influencer who has spent most of his life in Atlanta. He is a self-taught marketing and design expert and part owner of Vizualhub, LLC.; an advertising and marketing agency focused primarily on the development of innovative and interactive digital and print media. They have worked with the likes of Contigo, Emerging 100 of Atlanta, the Ron Clark Academy, Georgia Pacific, and more

Additionally, he is a very active member of his local community, Rue is the Creative Director of Everyone Eats Foundation, 501(c)(3) non profit.  Everyone Eats Foundation is an event based community service organization seeking to empower the youth & motivate millennials to actively give back to their communities. The foundation functions on 3 pillars: Education, Empowerment, and Enrichment. Their events cover the full spectrum from bookbag drives and mentorship program partnerships with various schools to impactful community fundraisers with local Atlanta organizations. Everyone Eats is focused on the betterment of the community one event at a time.

Rue suggests that his creativity and drive can best be summed by the quote:

“Passion is Energy. Feel the power on focusing on what excites you.” – Oprah Winfrey.

Of the many hats that he wears, one that is most prominent currently is his role as a DJ. Rue has been making waves in the nightlife as DJ Unruely. Somewhere between his marketing career and his philanthropic aspirations, Roodgery finds time to pursue his other passions, music and entertainment. Through his DJing, he has found an outlet for his passion to curate an experience in which people can let go and lose themselves in the moment. His mantra is simple “Bring a Vibe and people will come!”

The interview:

1. When did you decide to get into the creative space?

I remember that stage in life and decision very vividly. It was right after I graduated from GSU with a degree I wasn’t too sure about Exercise Science, anymore. That sent me into spiral of self reflection. I was forced to ask myself those hard questions:

What do I love to do?

What will make me happy?

Who do I want to be?

All answers pointed to tapping into my creative side.

2.     What’s been the biggest obstacle in building your brand?

My biggest obstacle is properly translating who I am and what I to do. I’m a man of hats in different fields/networks that require me to portray different sides of myself. It puts me in a sense of a digital identity crisis at times. lol

3.     If there were any advice that you’d give yourself prior to diving into the creative space what would that be?

GO NOW! FOLLOW YOUR HEART & DON’T LET FEAR STOP YOU! Believe in what you want, work hard, and God will take care of the rest.

4.     Im interested to hear your take on Donald Glover… from my perspective he is the trifecta, rapper, actor, producer; and he’s from the greater Atlanta area, any thoughts?

Man, don’t get me started. I use him as inspiration when people tell me you HAVE TO pick a hat! He, amongst many others, proves that you can chase many dreams at once and be successful. I really want to sit with him one day and pick his brain on how he does it all so perfectly!

5.     Do you think you will ever pick a single hat to wear?

Nope. I may eventually give something 95%, but I will always see myself with my hands in a little bit of everything.

6.     Who are your greatest inspirations?

Im inspired a lot by the greats; Denzel Washington – acting, Jazzy Jeff – DJ skills, and P. Diddy – mogul mentality. However, in the end, my mother is my greatest inspiration. The older I get, the more I recognize how much she sacrificed and how hard she worked to mold me into the man I am today. It is what drives the belief in myself to pursue my passions and create the life I want!

7.     What’s your vision for the future?

Vizualhub, LLC will be a Multibillion-dollar marketing agency, Everyone Eats will grow to spread our initiatives globally, I will be a world respected DJ and Producer, and Oscar nominated Actor.

Thank you Unruely for allowing me to interview you, it was nothing less than a pleasure. I’ll appropriately end this post with one word – MANIFEST!

To a life worth living!

-The Wkender
