Why Just Ride When You Can CRUISE!
<

I can think of fewer things in life that are more core to the experience of childhood than a kid and their bike. It’s these sorts of things that surface top of mind as you enter parenthood. In light of my son’s recent acclimation to leveraging his legs as a primary means of mobility, I think it would be ill-advised for him to have his own full-fledged bicycle. However, my good friends over at Kent Bicycles have a solution fit for both myself and my son.

As the helmsman of the blog and the bike, it’s only right that we start the discussion with the advantages for me.

The Big League cruiser sports massive 32″ wheels, an extra-wide handlebar, large-diameter grips, and a deluxe oversized comfort saddle. For these reasons I immediately knew this was the bike for me. Fit for a king, this cruiser is ideal for riders over 6 feet. Gone are the days of uncomfortably scrunching (yes that’s a word) yourself up to fit on a bit that’s two sizes too small. I didn’t have to adjust the seat to its lowest point to keep my knees safe from the handlebars and the bike wasn’t so heavy that I had to use all of my force to move it forward.

The intentional design of this bike shines through in every way. I could go on and on, but maybe it makes sense to list a few of my favorite specs:

  • Sturdy Steel Frame and Fork with a relaxed geometry

  • Deluxe Oversized Saddle

  • 30’’ wide handlebars

  • Supporting riders up to 325lbs

I must say, I’ve ridden bikes of all shapes and sizes in my time, BMX, 10-speed, cruisers, mountain, electric, etc, and of all of them, the Big League Cruiser has been the most comfortable. At 6’7” I’ve found myself constantly making trade-offs to ride, and finally, nothing had to be sacrificed. It’s like it was built just for me, AND Kairo! This takes me to the next point… I’ve never been a fan of the tag-along bike. It feels a bit too disconnected for me. Until he can ride on his own, my preference is that he ride with me and the Polisport child bike carrier allows us to ride together.

The Polisport is a lightweight child seat attachment rated for children up to about 40lbs. It boasts:

  • 3 Point Safety Harness

  • Adjustable Footrest

  • Compliant with TÜV GS – EN 14344

  • E-Bike Compatibility

For parents like me, I know you’re wondering…. “But how does it ride?”. The truth is, Kairo weighs about 27lbs, but I didn’t feel it one bit. He really enjoyed the seat and it was super sturdy with the proper attachment. I predict we will be riding all day or until my legs give out!

Chip Brown, said, “Bicycles are social catalysts that attract a superior category of people.” Kent’s made a superior quality bike in the Big League Cruiser and the Polisport carrier is the perfect pairing for my family. Give me a shout once you have yours and we can cruise together.

To a life worth living,

The Wkender
