Oh the Places You’ll Go [Once We Are Off Quarantine]!
The reality is that we have all been in our houses far too long! From a personality perspective, I’m a dreamer. I think a lot about the could be’s and have learned as I matured how to execute upon them. Why am I opening with this philosophical statement, might you ask, because my outfit and this post is completely out of season, and frankly, I DON’T CARE lol.
Covid-19 got me thinking… as soon as they let me out the house I’m getting on a plane and compacting my seasons into a couple of days. How dare they think I’m skipping the fun parts of last snowfall and my entire summer… NOPE, not happening.
SO this outfit is for you, Coronavirus. Cheers to the dreamers who know where there’s a will, there’s a way! I began my search for a list of places with snowfall in July lol. Here’s what I found…
It’s all about altitude. Whistler Blackcomb Resort in British Columbia has skiing available mid-June to mid-July, two T-bars provide skiing on Blackcomb’s Horstman Glacier in a public terrain park as well as in private areas reserved for summer camps. That’s honestly not too far for those of us on the West coast. If you really wanna blow a check, Zermatt in Switzerland is home to the highest and largest summer ski area in Europe; Zermatt’s Matterhorn Glacier Paradise Ski Area offers 12 months of skiing. After the winter season (between Nov. 1 and April 30), skiers can enjoy about 13 miles of glaciated terrain with groomed pistes and terrain parks.
Finally, if you’re a gambler and you want to roll the dice, you could try Mammoth Mountain in California. TBH, it’s top of my list. When the mountain can remain open during the summer (Sometimes up until July 4th), visitors can ski, bike, and golf all in one day — they offer this as a package in June. Also, like any great ski-lodge, there are bars readily available après-ski.
I recognize that I’m not skiing in this post, but the mere image of standing atop a mountain in the snow has me plotting. Typically, people want to run to the beach during the summer, and that’s all fine and well, but I’m a fan of balance, everything in moderation. To counter sweltering hot summer months, go get some cold mountain air for a few days. Dead of winter, go chill on a beach in Mauritius for a few weeks. Ya know the usual.
High level, I hope you all are staying safe and staying home, but in the wise words of Dr. Seuss, “Oh the Places You’ll Go [Once We Are Off Quarantine]”.
