The Highs & Lows
<

St. Patricks Day is more than a holiday to me… It marks a revolution around the sun (Birthday in this bih). In all seriousness, this is 29!

What better time to reflect on the highs and lows than a birthday! (No, not in that way lol, we are gonna talk fashion!)

One way this concept applies in fashion is the mixing of the chic (high) with the cheap. the blowout with the budget; the luxe with the less. If you haven’t caught on we are talking about dinero! Some people employ what you call an elevator rule…. Mixing in one item with a big price tag to elevate the outfit overall.

That’s not my method. There’s no count or number; it’s really about an aesthetic and a feel. Let’s talk through this look. It’s a combo of a few different things:

-New Era Oakland A’s fitted

-Legendary Whitetails Men’s Woodsman Heavyweight Quilted Flannel Shirt Jacket

-Gap Hoodie

-Levi Jeans

-John Geiger 002’s (Black/Lime)

-Christopher PM Backpack

Why this combination, why these pieces? So color blocks…. My entire base layer is black. There has rarely been a bad situation in a solid black base! The jeans are my go-to’s. They fit perfectly; the rips add a bit of grunge, but they are still neat. The hoodie was $25 at the Gap. I mean there’s not much to say; it’s hella basic, but it’s an essential. If you don’t have a black hoodie in your wardrobe, really, what are you doing in life? The most eccentric piece of this base layer is the kicks.

So this is tangential but totally worth saying. After this shoot, I got a few more good wears out of this pair of John Geigers. Then I noticed a defect in the shoe, and I had to reach out. Their customer service was exceptional, and they immediately sent the return label and a new pair. No questions asked, no real back and forth, just a warm

regards, and a new pair of shoes. Shout out to Neil who made it all happen.

The John Geiger 002 Away Game ‘OG’ (Black/Black/Lime) is thoughtfully designed to create a unique and distinguished aesthetic that’s only rivaled by Mason Margiela or Balenciaga.

From there we turn to the book of layering chapter 29, verse 1…. Thou shalt always add a splash of flavor to a plain base, and I found just the thing on Amazon.com. This flannel is perfect for SF weather. It’s light enough to stand the heat of the day, but it holds just enough weight to keep you warm in the cool breeze of the SF nights.

This is how I mix the highs and lows. Hit my DMs if you wanna talk more about price points lol.

Cheers to Birthdays and a life worth living,
