Rude Boi

Yall I can tell I’m getting old! I’ve got young boys calling me an OG! Ya know I’ve seen just enough to be dangerous, so maybe I can drop a nugget or two. I say that because I had the pleasure of connecting with a budding star, and it was really a no brainer. We had to feature him! I’d like to introduce, Mr. Joshua Michael Bhimull (@i.am.rudeboii.) as our Wkender Feature for the month of August!

Josh is a 24 year old Medical Doctoral candidate at the at Georgia Southern University. He is 100% Trinidadian and was born in the beautiful island state of Hawai’i. Soon after, his parents decided to move around a bit but landed in GA. He was predominantly raised in a small town just outside of Statesboro & is now living his best life in ATL.

He opted to pursue a medical degree because one of his two primary passions is helping people. “I’ve witnessed the disparate lifestyles of the haves and the have nots, and it’s heartbreaking to that gap increasing. My aspiration is to help bridge that gap by using my platform. My expectation is that as I rise in prominence as a model I will be able to reach more people. I believe that fashion is a habit so why not use it to benefit the world.”

I’m willing to bet you know what his other passion is now. lol Important to note that while on this doctoral path, he decided to not only model but to TRAVEL to model. Most would say this is risky, don’t do it! You’ve got too much on your plate, just be one thing. That’s simply not how Josh is built. “I’ve always done what I wanted & still do.”

I love how matter of fact he is in his statement, but what captivates me more is that this dichotomy is an embodiment of what The Wkender represents. Our generation is one of multifaceted, driven, can-doers. We aren’t just one thing; we are many things. We have a love for both art & education, and we boldly dare to pursue them both EQUALLY and with purpose! (I’m off my soapbox, but just know, I was elated when we dove into the back story)

His passion for fashion (I know this sounds cliche’) primarily comes from his mother. You’ve gotta love how moms playing dress up with their kids makes them saucey in the future! His parents have ties to the Northeast, so his drip was different

than the people around him. “Nobody else was rockin the buttas at the age of 6 in my town; I was cold with it at a young age.” We could call this the proverbial spark that ignited the flame because from then on he loved getting dressed.

Generally, he is more partial to formal wear. As a scholar and a gentleman, it’s paramount to be versed in the art of pairing suits for any occasion. However, as comfortable as he is in a suit, he is just as equipped to “switch it up & stunt in ripped jeans & a basic tee.” For this shoot, casual comfort was the play. We have committed to showing more dimensions of our features because there are so many things that are right about comfort in conjunction with style. Solid shirt, fitted slacks, and Converse all-stars. This is a win for a day to day fit that’s classic and versatile enough to get you through the heat of summer!

Thank you for allowing me to feature you. It was truly a pleasure, and I can’t wait to see how you shake things up when you give these industries a taste of Rudeboii!

To a Life Worth Living,

The Wkender
