Compliments & More Zyer
<

At the outset of this adventure we so affectionately call The Wkender we did all of our features a particular way. Generally it was a stunning woman (shout to all the WkendHER features) and me dressed to accompany her.

We soon realized that the perception was not marrying well with what we wanted to convey. Also, I was running out of fits lol.

So we went back to the drawing board. How do we still retain the element of allowing other people on the blog and it feel authentic. Then came the solo WkendHER shoots in addition to Wkender features. Honestly, this model’s been pretty good. It’s far more sustainable, and I’ve gotten far less questions about potential wedding dates (because there’s no reason a guy and a girl can be dressed to kill and it not be an engagement shoot lol)

Then Zyer! We do our best to backlog content to ensure that we aren’t living paycheck to paycheck, if you get what I’m saying. So I’m out with Zyer doing her shoot at the bar and Boom the manager walks over and is like y’all should go to the rooftop. The aesthetic is crazy up there. I’m like yeah yeah yeah let’s get the rest of these shots at the bar cause last thing I need is to be missing something.

We finish at the bar (not sure if you saw last weeks post but She’s poppin) and transitioned upstairs to find the most perfect setting for our ‘03 Bonnie and Clyde video shoot!

It’s always the unplanned spur of the moment shoots that work out best. Super casual, in the moment shots that feel real. We honestly look like we could be in somebody’s magazine ijs.

A few notable things about our fits.

For me:

I’ve always been a fan of monochrome, it’s simple, and somehow says I’m a boss! This shirt and short set came straight from the gap and cost me about $50 (Issa Steal)! The shoes are from New Republic. Legend is that the manufacturer of common projects and new republic are the same. The difference is that New Republic ($89 + shipping) sits at about ¼ the price point of common project! They are quality sneakers and I will definitely be purchasing another pair.

For her:

The specifics of the items are simple… None of them are name brand.. she still looks amazing!

Moral of the story, you ain’t gotta be a dope boy to look like you have money (or whatever T.I. said in ATL).

To a Life Worth Living,

The Wkender
