What Happens in Vegas is a movie lol
There is something intrinsically serene about being on a plane. Literally being above it all provides an alternate perspective on life. Like having the choice to connect or not and actively having to engage with a process to access the outside world. I appreciate the moments where I can hide from the noise. If life is truly about balance then the moments of high pace, exertion of energy must have moments of solitude as a counterweight. I have to actively pursue those moments more vehemently. Gonna rest for now cause next Vegas!
I legitimately wrote this on the hour flight from San Jose to Vegas, and all i can say is this was the calm before the storm lol.
And then I touched down and a surge of energy… LET’S GET IT!!
For those of you who are like me and have to work from the office on Fridays, sometimes lol, you know that those are the times where you have other stuff to do lol. Here’s what happened; my friends waited until the absolute last minute to decide that they wanted to go to Vegas. Not to mention, they left on Thursday evening and booked seats on a private jet (Jet Suite X), so you know I was heated lol.
While I was taking my sweet time to arrive, they were racing exotic cars and hitting the gun range. It’s all good though because as soon I touched down we hit Drai’s and saw Ty Dolla $ign; the night ended the next morning lol, and all was right with the world.
We were staying at the Cosmopolitan so it was only right that we hit the Marquee Day/Night Club. The following day we were up and active by noon, hit the gym, grabbed some food, and onto Marquee for drinks and pool action. The DJ was straight EDM for the the first 3hrs but then a shift. The Vegas Gods heard us crying to the heavens and then came Travis Porter through the speakers, followed by Tee Grizzley, and next Sheck Wes. By this time, we had all had our fill of libations, and the music was now hitting but we were tired, sooooooo we decided to go. In truth, we attempted to leave 5 times over the next hour. The DJ kept playing bangers, and in drunken form, we found friends and turned up. No clue who the DJ was but thank you!
If you know me, you know that I’m pseudo-narcoleptic, so I tapped out for the next 2 hours. A much needed reprieve from the pace of Vegas, grab food, then to the night.
The group split, half of us went to the Khalid concert and the other half went to see Chris Rock. I was in the Khalid crew largely because I’ve been a fan since the beginning. Saved is still one of my favorite songs to date!
The setlist for the concert was dope and flowed really well from start to finish. Great compilation of his bangers across the 3 albums! I would argue that there was more to be desired from the performance, but I think as he continues to grow as an artist he will improve. Regardless of the lack of theatrics, he sang his butt off, and for that, I am appreciative!
From there, it was off to the races. Last night in Vegas so let’s push the envelope. Ran to the casino in the Mirage and got up a quick $300. Grits and Biscuits was in town so we slid to the only truly southern party on the West Coast (if you know of others lemme know). Lastly, the after after spot. I think I got a solid hour of sleep before my 9am flight; who does that? Lol.
Lessons Learned:
There’s no cheap way to do Vegas.
Patience is key with drunk people.
If you pace yourself, you won’t need a resurrection after your trip.
As always, I’m open to your recommendations on how to improve my travel experiences. Drop a comment, lemme know!
