But First of All, We GRADUATE!
<

For most…there is a fundamental shift in cognition that occurs as you enter any educational program in your adult life. The initial consideration is much more comprehensive than your undergraduate degree. Questions like: What is the value add? What do I plan to do with this degree/credential? How will this take my career to the next level? What is my expected compensation after this point? All start to circulate.

For the record I didn’t ask any of these questions lol. Truth be told, I rarely have a clearly defined plan for my next steps in life. (anyone looking for a life coaching client lol) What I do have is Grace, Mercy, Intuition, and Resilience. That for me was impetus enough to try applying for Emory’s Goizueta Business School.

I cannot say this this was a smooth ride to the end. I failed some exams, cried sometimes, and even did the unthinkable… Shutdown the Library, but it was all worth it. This experience has fundamentally shaped how I manage my professional life.

Highs:

  • Built lifelong friendships that will continue to be fruitful as we all thrive off of each others success

  • Gained some much needed foundational business savvy, I was a political science major in undergrad so to companies my primary skill set was talking to people lol

  • Challenged myself to acquire a degree from, arguably one of the most prestigious institutions in the South East

Areas of Opportunity:

  • Don’t drink so much on the international module (although the stories from this trip are amazing)

  • Study for accounting from day one (although Usha Rackliffe is the patron saint of accounting and literally one of the best teachers I’ve had in my life)

  • Carve out more time to hangout with my classmates

You should know that for as much of getting an MBA is about the education, Its equally about building your brand amongst your peers who are the leaders of tomorrow. They will serve as the network that launches you into the next rungs of your career!

Thank you to all who supported me on this journey, late night phone calls, meals on wheels lol, and the ever so constant crashing at a friends spot are all the key elements for success!

Now to the fashion:

I sacrificed!!!! Lordt knows I did, cause the day started at the perfect temp and soon progressed to an unbearable 7000 degrees. You know what tho… the outfit selection was solid.

Carnation Yellow linen double breasted blazer completely unlined to support breathability, with the redwood buttons to connect the oxblood loafers. All paired with a denim shirt and white pants to create contrast and complexity. This ensemble is one for leisure or casual business and you’re sure to catch and eye or three.

As a note, this is not a look that I purchased off of rack all of the pieces are from different places. However, you can find similar things are SuitSupply.com (It’s actually their banner slider at the moment lol)
