Since we are on this entrepreneurial wave, guess it’s time for another episode of popping woman entrepreneurs. Who better to present in this light than the Wkendher.

Ms. Breanna Hopkins is model turned designer from a small town in Wisconsin. Simply put, small towns don’t fit the big dreams of superstars. Breanna started modeling at the age of 11. Her grandfather saw the vision early and signed her up for a modeling class to kick start her career. Evidence that she was in the right business, her first modeling gig was at sunglass hut.  I’m not sure how much you know about Luxottica, parent company for sunglass hut, but they are pretty conservative when it comes models and representation.

Fast forward to college and Breanna finds another passion which clearly aligns with her modeling pathway. She attended Clark Atlanta University, one of the 3 illustrious Atlanta University Center Schools, in 2014 on a track scholarship. Many of the skills that she tapped into on the track are great for life and excellent for fashion & design:

precision, accuracy, speed, dedication, and simply caring to push your limits! What’s unique about the AUC is that it is core to black innovation and while that hold true for the general population, it also served as the location for Breanna’s first fashion show… Needless to say, Homecoming Week was LITTTT!

Since then, she’s been fully engaged in modeling world including: runway shows, photo shoots, music videos, and even tv. “My most memorable [opportunities] were participating in GA peach fashion show and being a model on BET’s, American Soul. However, as much as I love being in front of the camera, I love being behind it as well.”

What’s important to know about Breanna is that she’s no novice when it comes to fashion. Not only is she passionate about her craft but she is a student of the art as she retained her fashion and merchandising degree from Clark Atlanta University. The combination of her experiences on the runway, in print, and otherwise sparked an idea for her, which led to design. Historically, she has primarily created pieces for herself. Her creations often included tops, skirts, other outfit essentials, but what she enjoyed creating most, and to wearing, was swimwear.

She generally always received feedback around her pieces, but the response for the swimwear was unparalleled. You’ve gotta give the people what they want right…all this to say, check out her swim line dropping at the end of the month, called Minimum Swim. Ladies and Gentleman, these are exclusive handmade, made to order, bikinis. They come in an array of colors, and what’s even more dope is that they are reversible.

Beauty, Poise, and intellect are the characteristics I associate with a WkendHer and Breanna has all three so instead of having her serve face in a runway fit for the entire shoot and making it all about modeling we decided to go chill! This is authentically Bre. Simple comfortable fit, and yet still astonishing! Thank you for being our WkendHer!
