White Walker

I want y’all to know that I literally could not wait to pull this jacket back out, and now the time has finally come!

I’m not a fan of the blistering cold, but the fashion that cooler temperatures allow is where creativity and necessity align. Last week, I told you that layers are necessary; that’s my rule below 45 degrees. However between 45 and 60, you can shine with a dope coat or jacket.

With that I present to you, WINTER WHITE! I must say, this shoot was exciting for me. I was telling Don (@_donhansen) the amount of heat that is in this shoot is ridiculous. We have winter wear (my fav), with cool metal/white earth tones (2nd fav), and the perfect temp. There’s no way to lose!

The outfit:

Lately, I’ve really been into solid base layers: black shirt, black pant, blue shirt, blue pant looks. So I’m on a plane and I’m thinking, I really want to flip the look for the Houndstooth coat, but the coat has to be the statement piece! I Immediately harkened back to the Simply Complete look: black button down, black slacks, black shoes, and let the jacket speak. I love how that shoot came out, but the pieces added no additional complexity. I’ve gotta take it up a notch, TURTLENECK!

Cream pants, perfectly matched cream turtleneck, black velvet shoes, and houndstooth coat #CLASSIC.

One thing I’d like to point out, the pants are actually a more traditional cut as they are high waisted with pleats. This caused a little back and forth during the tailoring process but all’s well that ends in a dope shoot lol!

The location:

Atlanta is filled with little gems, aesthetically speaking, but we have a finite number of actual landmarks.

The Suntrust Building off of Peachtree Street definitely falls somewhere in between. Like I wouldn’t come to Atlanta specifically to see it, but if you are here you should check it out.

Designed by John Portman and Associates, this modern marvel was opened in 1992 with 60 stories of office space, making it the 2nd tallest building in the city. What’s really dope about it is the acute design elements that show the architects attention to detail such as the chrome finishes, marble exterior, white accents, reflective glass that creates a sense of openness, and a citation light atop the building, complete with garden office space inside the building. All of this combined allows SunTrust Plaza to make a definitive mark on Atlanta’s skyline during the day or at night.

Unfortunately we weren’t able to shoot inside as the property managers were not onsite, so more shoots to come at this beautiful venue.

As always, I’m open to your feedback – thoughts on the fit or the venue are always welcome!

To a Life worth Living,

The Wkender
