There is a week, once per year, when every college or university reserves rights to their city. Specifically, the right to flood the city with their alumni, colors, and inordinate amounts of nostalgia! It’s a time when the past meets the present, and it’s truly all good. To make it plain, I love homecoming and I LOVE MY GSU (Georgia State, not Southern).
I have to say, pledging Greek, fundamentally shifted my college experience, and I’m immediately time warped back to the yard at homecoming! Thank you to the Zeta Mu Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. for shaping me and my college experience. Oh BTW, my Neo won Homecoming King – another win in the bag!
One of my favorite things about homecoming, aside from the camaraderie, is the FASHION! With this in mind, there are a few different camps of people:
–Those who see homecoming as a challenge to curate the perfect fit and stunt on everyone.
–Those who have always felt a t-shirt was sufficient and there is no reason to be extra.
–Those affiliated with an organization, which takes the guesswork out of the outfit. The group will look unified; no matter what.
I wanted to capture a little bit of it all, so take a look at the pictures below and let me know where you think they fall.
Here’s to Georgia State University and another great homecoming in the books. I hope your livers and bodies recover in the next 360 days, so we can GO UP again next year!
