The Variety Pack
<

Since the origin of The Wkender, we’ve always made a point to ensure that we pointed out the purpose and use case for each look while highlighting any pieces that we felt were multifunctional. For this post, we will focus on how to bend a suit to your will by making it the multifunctional piece. It’s like a variety pack, gonna give you a little taste of each flavor (corporate, corporate casual, casual). Let me know what you think!

The Base:

A simple brown plaid suit with white accents to define the pattern while maintaining the subtle prestige of suit. The suit pants have tapered legs and are hemmed with absolutely no break and no cuff for the sole

purpose of creating a multifunctional trouser. The beauty is that they are just long enough to wear socks and dress shoes and just short enough to put on converse “Chuck Taylors” and steal the show.

Corporate (with a flare):

This look is “hemmed up”, im legitimately corporate from the ankles to my neck. I paired the suit with a solid white shirt and a tie. One thing to note, the pattern of the suit is simple and consistent which on some level can be treated like a solid color.

The pairing with a busier tie isn’t such an issue because the suit isn’t overbearing. The shoes taupe suede tassel loafers… Some may say its a faux pas to wear loafers with a tie, but we push limits from time to time. General note, these shoes without socks are frowned upon in most corporate settings. Open to your thoughts…

Corporate Casual:

With cooler weather on the horizon, it’s important to add turtlenecks to your wardrobe. I simply cannot stress how useful this piece is! On that morning when you’re running late and you dont have time to thoroughly press your shirt, this is a win!

Also, its really a classy look; great for dinner parties, dates, or the right workplace. A great way to make it pop is to pair it with a shoe to match, this will create a certain synchronicity across your outfit that will take you from simple to chic.

Casual

I’m sure you remember Jean Jacket… Jean Jacket meet Suit Pants… this is a match made in heaven. There comes a point in your day where you are officially over wearing your suit and you just want to be comfortable. Having these 3 pieces at your fingertips at all times is your recipe for success: Plain White T(not the band), Jean Jacket, White Converse.

This combo will take almost any pair of slacks well into the night and offers you just the transition you needed to get to happy hour. My one caution to you is not to overuse this look. Although this a fun way to dress your suit separates down, you have to be conscious of the fact that light exposure changes the color of fabrics and because of this you may have pants that no longer match your jackets.

These three looks show how versatile your suits can be. I encourage you to experiment and send me the insights gained from taking a chance.
