When I tell you, I am ready for FALL!
The leaves change colors. This heat finally goes away. And, most importantly, we get to layer! It’s the perfect time of year. In my opinion, fall is the best season for fashion. You can add fresh and unexpected elements to your outfits to personalize your look… all while not freezing to death or overheating!
I’ll admit it, the time has finally come for me to put the bandana away for the summer… but what about winter (inserts purple devious face emoji)?? I’m joking. I’m going to put it away, but before I do, a tribute to the West Coast!
YG? Why not?
The combination of the Raiders Hat and the bandana tied
around the neck is 100% Cali-inspired (word to YG). Now all I need is a 67’ Chevelle, but for now, my Challenger will do.
Elements of the Outfit:
Rockstar Jeans
This style has always scared the life out of me because I’m a larger guy (take deep breaths, admitting your fears is a good thing). The truth is this: I’m a fan of dressing for your build, and I didn’t want to be an oversized man in undersized denim. Fortunately, that’s not how this played out lol.
The Jeans were snug, but for this look they
worked perfectly!
An Icon
I paired the jeans with a T-shirt reminiscent of my high school days in Atlanta when everyone was walking around with someone’s face on their shirt, “Snap music,” Hot Cheetos, and Surge were all you needed to survive.
This t-shirt captures the astonishing and unforgettable face of the artist who won hearts, spirits and Grammys – Ms. Selena Quintanilla-Pérez. If you can’t put her face with a song, click here and you’ll immediately be taken back to 1992.
Chelsea boots
Who doesn’t love a solid pair of black leather Chelsea boots? They are a dope, and might I say, essential addition to any closet. They are multi-purpose, can be dressed up or dressed down and they add an edgy angle to the look.
Here’s a quick history lesson: They were originally called “Paddock Boots,” which were used for walking and horseback riding. In the 1950’s, a group of wealthy socialites out of Chelsea in South West London started wearing the boots religiously. This is how and when the name changed.
The Jean Jacket
This is a staple wardrobe piece, especially for the cooler months of the year. I love how transformative this piece can be for an outfit. I have seen dressier fits become more casual
using the jean jacket and I have seen OD casual fits get a face lift. Gentleman, if you don’t own one, please add it to your wardrobe. It is an asset, I assure you!
Accessories
The Fitted is almost always a compliment to any streetwear look. In this instance, I subconsciously used it as a statement piece. CALI baby – Raiders Nation!
To complete the fit… the Bandana. This was a risky play. I was either going to come out looking dope or like a Delta Airlines Stewardess, but this is the essence of what fashion is about – take the risk and see where you fall! If it’s trash, cleanse the world of any evidence that it ever occurred, and try again tomorrow. I’m open to your thoughts on the look and am looking forward to seeing how you guys add in your own style and personality.
P.S.
Overall, this was one of the most fun looks I’ve done for streetwear. I conquered some fears and looked great while doing it…if I do say so myself lol.
To a life worth Living,
The Wkender
