The Woman In Red
<

What’s better than standing next to a mogul in the making? When the mogul happens to be a woman, and you are both in the presence of luxury.

Simply put, if you haven’t been to the Buckhead Shops, I will gladly take you on a tour!

With that, I present to you the Monthly Female Feature, Ms. Maria Barlow….

Maria is originally from Detroit, Michigan and has lived in Atlanta, Georgia for the past 7 years. She is a finance professional that currently supports Deloitte Consulting LLP as a Senior Consultant in the Finance and Enterprise Performance service offering. She holds dual graduate degrees including a MBA and Masters of Finance from the University of Michigan.

She dedicates much of her free time to her passion for real estate. Maria is an active Georgia Realtor™ and real estate investor. When she is not conquering the world in every aspect of business, she is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., serving her community through volunteerism, encouraging and teaching financial literacy, and youth mentorship.

She is an inspiration, and with all the commitments she has on her plate, it begs the question: What did you do today?

Thank you for challenging the status quo!

As a 90’s baby and someone who lived through Y2K, I affectionately remember “the day the world was set to end” and all of the movies that depicted what happened next.

Anybody remember the woman in the red dress? (leave a comment if you know what movie that’s from)

Her Look:

She is crushing the game in a red bandage sheath dress coupled with a neutral blush heel and subtle selections for earrings. I love this look as it creates a juxtaposition. It’s subtle & elegant, but is still everything you need to set the world ablaze. I’ll be honest and say that Maria had to teach me the categorization of this dress type.

A sheath dress is characterized as form-fitting and shaped by darts and tends to highlight your proportions. (Darts are a V-shaped tuck used to help shape the fabric of a garment to the contours of the body, most commonly seen over the bust area.)  This look is perfect for a night out, a cocktail dinner, or a date night. Ladies, I fully recommend adding this to your repertoire.

My Look:

I want to be perfectly clear… I HAVE BEEN DYING TO GET MY HANDS ON A BLUE DOUBLE-BREASTED SUIT. I have always felt that it is one of the pinnacles of luxury and lordt, it felt good! The royal blue is definitely a head turner; it’s power & player at the same time.

I paired it with a red tie and white shirt, which was very Clark Kent-esk, but I think I personally have a vendetta against black shoes so it couldn’t be a perfect match. (Maybe I just haven’t found the right pair so please let me know if you have recommendations.) This look is very much, young boss walks into a board room to shut it down.

The beauty is that in today’s nightlife scene you could wear this to a high class club/lounge and fit in perfectly. You look like you come with a complementary section with bottle service.

Location:

Buckhead Shops is Atlanta’s version of Rodeo Drive. If you are looking for every high end store imaginable, this is your place. I would dive deeper, but I think it would be worth taking the time to post about the shops separately to do it justice. In the interim, here is the website so feel free to take a look around.
