What’s the Summer Without A Rooftop?

As the dog days of summer near and the clouds begin to break, soon come (in my best Jamaican voice) the hot eats, sweet treats, and sunshiny days we all dream of… SUMMER!

What a splendid time to go explore, maybe I should do a series on poppin summer to-dos in Atlanta (hmmm).

For this edition of the Monthly Female Feature we decided to fully embrace the joy around the corner and with this, I present Ms. Kiah Alexandria Clingman.

Kiah is an actress and producer from Cincinnati, OH. A 2015 summa cum laude graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C., she received a degree in Communications with an emphasis on Advertising and a minor in Theatre Arts and History. During her time in undergrad, she had the opportunity to study theatre in London, England and was selected to play Laura in The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams. Her love for acting took her to New York where she completed a summer intensive at the Maggie Flannigan Conservatory Studio.

Kiah is well-known for her lead role, Chanel, in Black & Sexy TV’s newest web series, Doing It Wrong, which premiered on Black & Sexy TV’s paid subscription service as a part of their new HBCU initiative.

Not only does Kiah thrive in front of the camera and stage, she loves working behind-the-scenes. She has cast actors and actresses for two short films and has also produced 7 short films. She is currently producing and has a lead role, Cami, in the newest web series Outlandish. She also is the lead, Olivia, in the web series, Thick Skin.

The series she is producing now, Outlandish, has over almost 200k views on YouTube and Season 2 is in development.

She has acquired a vast array of skills that have prepared her to take on the entertainment industry having completed multiple internships at FOX Sports, HBO, Viacom (MTV, VH1, Comedy Central, Spike & Logo), and Weber Shandwick.

She ultimately aspires to combine her writing, performing, and speaking abilities in preparation for a successful career in film and television.

Our outfits are both “Coachella Meets the City”

Her Look:

She’s rocking an olive-green tank, large mesh sweater, shorts, and chunky heeled boots. This look is the quintessential ‘it’s hot but imma still be cute’ look. As a note, natural hair is an easy win when it’s prepped a ready to go, and fellas we can be out the door on time! This look is perfect for the setting because it has personality, it’s fun and translates well to the environment. Really dig the natural tones!

My Look:

I’ve really been feeling the military blouse lately, so I figured sleeves rolled, solid underneath and something on top would do the trick! Camo is so easy to pair because it truly is all the earth tones. I opted for navy because it’s simple, fun, and I really wanted to wear the boots (lol). If you read The Cedric Brown Collection post you are probably in the mood to bend rules so here we go again. The Nike Special Field Air Force 1 Midnight Navy is a crazy hybrid shoe and what I love about it most, is that like the Wkender, it won’t be boxed in! It’s a boot, it’s a tennis shoe, it’s magical. This fit is great for a summer evening that turns into a night, it’s functional, versatile, and sets a standard for dopeness!

Location:

The rooftop at Ponce City market (Skyline Park) is astonishing! It offers great views, vibes, and drinks. there is literally no way to go wrong here. It’s a pseudo-carnival complete with Skee-ball, putt-putt, an adult slide, and multiple other carnival-esk games. If you’re looking for a reprieve from the city, just off of the beltline, this is your spot. The best part of it all is that it’s just above the market which has amazing shopping and restaurants to die for. If you’re ever in the area please go to Holman and Finch. If you’ve never had their burger you haven’t lived!

  1. It was such a pleasure to work with this talented creative. From a businessman to a stylist to fashion expert, Jonathan is skilled and more than qualified in more than one field.

Pursuing a passion is more than possible while working a corporate job and it was refreshing working with someone who believes and promotes the same ideals for which I stand.

Look forward to working with him more in the future and collaborating on more projects.
