When summertime hits t-shirts come back into heavy rotation. What’s more simple and more poppin than a v-neck white-tee and distressed jeans? This outfit is not specific to a certain tax bracket. You see everyone from corner boys to celebs with it in rotation. The question is why? We will get there…
The Process:
The first thing I picked was the shoes! I really wanted to wear the Balenciagas, so I thought about how to make them the staple piece of an outfit. By my account, there were a total of 3 outfits that immediately came to mind:
-Black shirt, black jeans, neon shoes
-white or gray shirt, light blue jeans, neon shoes
-white or gray shirt, dark blue jeans, neon shoes
I know, really creative right?!
These were never intended to be an everyday shoe, but pairing them is challenging so even if I did want to wear them every day I would be hard-pressed to find a reasonable way to do so.
In my moment of vulnerability I’ll ask this:
If you have recommendations on how else to pair them, please let me know cause lord knows they will sit in my closet. Lol.
The Look:
When you wake up in the morning and the alarm gives out a warning and you don’t think you’ll ever make it on time ‘saved by the bell’. This is the outfit for you!
It’s perfect for a day in the city, its casual cool, and effortless. I often find myself in situations where I’m rushing and don’t have time to stand in my closet for 30 minutes to figure out what to wear. Furthermore, if there is an iron involved, issa NO!
In those moments I need something that is fast, casual, nice enough to get me into multiple settings. Personally, I think this is a winner as it is a multi-vibe fit.
Vibe With Me:
-With jacket and hat, a New York, early spring vibe.
-With jacket, sans fitted cap, more of a rockstar vibe.
– Without jacket with hat, cool dad vibe.
– Without Jacket or hat says, “I really wanted to keep it simple, but know I still flexed on you.”
The Why:
I was reading an article in Gentleman’s Quarterly (bet you didn’t know that’s what GQ stood for – Neither did I lol) that asserted the following- “The foundation of a great wardrobe starts with the simplest essential: The White T-shirt.” The article goes on to talk about how this now staple item was once hidden from the world but is now a status symbol and provides an indication of several things about you as a person. It was truly an interesting read. If you have a spare minute check it out (here).
Also, here’s a list of retailers that sell these staple pieces with that slim fit, bicep-hugging, GQ magazine look you’re thinking about buying:
My overall argument is as simple as the outfit, when you don’t overcomplicate a look it makes your life easy and it’s typically a win. You don’t have to wow the world everyday, taking a chill day is the way to keep people engaged. Try this, get casket sharp for a month straight and set a norm that you are the casket sharp guy, then randomly throw on jeans and a t-shirt… I promise it will be just as noticeable as when you were super clean because you’ve provided a stark contrast, and my hope is that this post has provided some insight on how to wear your white-tee in style.
To a Life Worth Living,
The Wkender.

Looking good in ya White-T! Love the article. My favorite look is with the jacket and the NY hat. And the jewelry selection is perfect.
