Annually, I systematically refuse to research and identify when is the official start of summer. Honestly, it’s not a vendetta; I simply think the weather is a better indication of the season than the calendar. I know that the seasons are based on equinoxes & solstices; it’s that I live in Atlanta where it can be 80/sunny one day and 20/frigid the next. I bring this up to tell you, my wonderful readers, that this past wkend felt like summer!!

What better way to kick it off than with a splash of color, so I give you YELLOW in all of its splendor.

Honestly, I love the fact that the monochrome look is in, but I wasn’t in a mood to try and go buy a monochrome outfit. So I used what I had and it came out great.

The shirt is Ralph and I’ve had it for years, but recently, I decided to get it tailored and put it back in rotation. For those of you who don’t know, shirt tailoring is a thing. My experience is this: I’ll go to a store to buy a shirt, but the size that fits my torso is too short for my arms. I am then forced to buy a shirt that is too big all over (smh). If you have a good tailor, you can taper the arms and the mid-section of the shirt to your body and now that regular fit is custom to you!

The shorts are anonymous (lol), the brand is not important to this part of the conversation as these shorts were thrifted years ago as well. What I want to discuss is length… These shorts are SHORT. Like short short, which is to say that there is a lot of thigh being presented here. In previous posts, I’ve mentioned that knowing yourself is key to your stylistic approach. I know I don’t look too crazy with this length, but if they were any shorter it would be difficult to substantiate so I wear them. However, I get that these are not a comfortable or appropriate length for everyone, but you can still have your shorter shorts once you find the length that works for you.

Shoes are your go-to spring/summer kicks, they are white, leather, and versatile enough to wear and make a suit casual or with jeans and a polo. This particular pair is by Sam Edelman and the blue accent on the heel stuck out to me. They are uber comfortable and were very economically priced.

This look is great for company social gatherings (you will have to button a few more buttons), family cookouts, or day parties (coming to a city near you), and to me, that’s the ultimate benefit. It’s a look crafted in one of the major guiding principles of The Wkender – Versatility!

Overall, this look is an easy win and it didn’t break the bank to pull it off. Pick a color, any color, and bring your splash to the party!

Welcome to warmer weather!

To a Life Worth Living,

The Wkender.

    1. Sam Edelman is one of my favorites as well. Unfortunately, I believe this is one of his very limited selection for men. Even still, I would definitely point ladies in his direction!

    1. I know right, Atlanta essentially skipped spring this year. Its gonna be a hot one!

  1. Great post! Yellow is a color that is starting to catch my eye. Tailoring clothes is a great idea when trying to keep old/oversized items in rotation. I will definitely utilize that method.

    1. Thanks for the feedback, I totally agree. If you’re in Atlanta and looking for a tailor I have a great one and I would be glad to make an introduction!
