As an adult, travel has become an integral part of my life. It’s something I’ve become passionate about because it allows me to broaden my perspective and have a great time while doing it. I’ve been to several countries: Thailand, India, Greece, Italy, Belgium, Spain, France, Mexico, and Jamaica. In all of my experiences, I’ve found one fact to be true; I’ve got to be comfortable getting there. (Not what you thought I was gonna say lol)
For personal travel, my philosophy is simple. Wear something comfortable and that you can run in because you never know when you’re going to have to run to your next flight (#dobetter #beontime #beearly #stopplayingroulette). For me, that is a track suit and running shoes in most situations.
What better way to make a simple track suit stand out than to customize it.
The Wkender X Nike
(I could totally see this blowing up!)
Couple of things, I recently tried to make the switch to Adidas and it’s been a great exploratory experience, but I’ve realized that it I don’t have to choose between the brands. This track suit is super comfortable; the pants are tapered to give a modern look, and the jacket is a drop cut which is super dope. Long story short, I had to get it (lol).
Once I got it, I immediately saw the potential and started looking for places to have it embroidered. The good folks at ATL Embroidery took great care of me. Services were not expensive and Ali was great about communicating his progress.
The grey was easy and would match multiple things, and they had my size so I copped and that’s the story of being an oversized shopper (lol). If I had my way, I would have bought the green version.
BUT THE SHOES!
I went to the Nike store and was immediately attracted to the vapormax[A1] . They’re sleek, attractive, and secretly remind me of the shoes that New New’s dad was wearing when he stepped out of the car at Cascade (if you know you know **Kanye Shrug**). However, when I tried them on, they were not the most comfortable shoe. I have a wider foot, and the vapormax is cut for a narrow foot so they were digging into the sides of my arches and that simply would not work for lots of walking.
A Nike associate told me to try on the Epic React and when I did, geez, they were crazy comfortable. Like the kinda comfortable that your grandad looks for when buying sandals to grill in for the summer. I was walking on a cloud and still at an impasse. On one hand, I wanted pop-ish, but I knew I would not be satisfied if they were not comfortable. I had the associate choose, I walked away with the Epic Reacts, and I’m totally satisfied with that decision. Now Off to my next adventure…. JAPAN!
Comfort is key and there’s no good replacement for it!
