Simply Complete

Have you ever walked into a store and saw an item that you simply had to have, but had no clue how you would rock it?

Sadly, I am the poster child for this situation (lol). There’s no need to fear, I have a simple solution for you.

This outfit is a jacket, a shirt, and a pair of slacks at its most foundational level, but the color collaborations are everything. This jacket spoke to me before I bought it. I walked into the store looking for a secondary new years outfit and stumbled across this gem. When I put it on and walked to the check-out register the lady in front of me in line says, “You like that jacket, huh?” to which I respond “Why, yes, yes I DO!” (In my best Kevin Hart voice)

Here’s why I chose it:

The Pattern is bold! If there is one thing I have learned in life, its to own who you are. I know that I’m going to stand out as I’m often the tallest person in the room; so I embraced that fact and I use it to my advantage. Honestly, if I’m going to be noticed at least I could look good doing it!

Often times people shy away from bold prints and patterns – WELL my assumption is that it’s largely because they don’t know how they would wear the item. Being a veteran I was taught a very simple strategy for life: The KISS method (Keep it Simple Stupid) in retrospect that may not have been the most PC way to present it, but hey, it works for this situation.

How I paired it:

As a rule of thumb, if I’m going to wear something that is busy on top I am sure to mute the rest of the outfit.

The jacket is the staple piece in this look and with that in mind, not only do I want to focus on the jacket, but I want you to as well. Black is an easy win in most situations because it is versatile. It’s just posh enough to wear to a nightclub, but clean enough to wear to an after-work gathering as well. If you pair it properly you might be able to get away with it at work and Voila, you have an outfit for all occasions.

This is a great look for brisk afternoons in the city and the beauty is if you’re wandering into the night you are still prepared for whatever happens. If you stay ready, yeen (this is a real word south of the Mason Dixon) gotta get ready!

To a Life Worth Living,

The Wkender.
